(or simply Angelus), is a hip-hop/rap artist brandishing a style with relentless gritty vocals, high caliber lyrical content, and catchy hooks, cutting through tracks with remarkable energy. From 2006 to 2011, Big Angelus has released three projects, managing over 150,000 albums/units downloaded worldwide and countless physical copies distributed nationally. With the fourth project titled “Capricorn KING” set to be released in 2012, there is already talk of a follow up project yet to be named.
The only thing that comes close to rivaling Big Angelus’ brilliance, is his philanthropy work in the community, volunteering his time to the children at community centers, helping with homework, general learning and being a positive role model in their lives. Big Angelus’ generosity is not just limited to volunteering his time, as he is no stranger in giving donations to charitable causes as well.
Big Angelus’ third release titled “RUSSO,” which is named after his alternative persona, “Russo W. Varela,” was the first to be released under his “Black Corona Ent.” During the fourth quarter of 2010 spilling into the first quarter of 2011, shortly after releasing the title, Big Angelus climbed the charts on “mp3.com,” leading as #1 for 10 consecutive weeks.
Since releasing his first two projects, “The Catalog” and “Welcome 2 the Hundred,” Big Angelus has had songs placed on nationwide top 10 download charts, has had his first two releases nominated for best hip-hop album of the year in a regional urban music awards, and has been placed on other multiple hip-hop charts contending with major, independent and unsigned artists.
As well as having many supporters in countries like Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Russia and other places throughout the world, Angelus’ ability to touch many with his music hasn't been limited by the passing up of two possible record contracts, with two different record companies, previously in his career.
While showing no sign of slowing down in constructing his own empire, Big Angelus has also been involved in producing/co-producing, and songwriting for other artists, as well as dabbling in the independent film industry.
